First off, Stem Cell Guy would like to clarify- for this post, we are talking about Naples, Florida- not the Naples in Southern Italy where Stem Cell Guy dreams of having his honeymoon (provided he finds a woman crazy enough to marry him).
It looks like Mel Forbis is having a honeymoon of sorts, feeling the effects of his Vescell adult stem cell therapy. Mr. Forbis came to Thailand last May to get treated for his congestive heart failure and is raving about his results. This article also features Dr. Zannos Grekos- the new U.S. Cardiology Director of Theravitae. Stem Cell Guy would like to give a warm welcome to Dr. Grekos who accompanied one of his patients to Thailand recently and became yet another believer in our Vescell stem cell treatment and subsequently joined our family.
Without further ado, here is the latest article featuring a Theravitae patient-
Mel Forbis was running out of time. He would live, perhaps, another seven or eight months. Congestive heart failure has no sympathy. Then one evening his son saw a program on The Discovery Channel about adult stem cells, from one's own blood, being cultivated and injected into the heart to grow new muscle and improve heart function. Because research on the potentials of adult stem cell therapy is in its infancy in the United States, the 72-year-old Forbis checked into Bangkok Heart Hospital in May where he underwent the procedure. "I feel 100 percent better," Forbis, a retired businessman in Naples, said. "I can walk around and do a lot of things without getting out of breath. Of course, there's a lot of skeptics in the medical field."
Did Stem Cell Guy miss yet another memo? Did Theravitae hire a PR firm in Naples, Florida? The only reason I ask is this is the second story to come out of Naples in just two weeks! If you scroll down a little, you will find "Stem Cell Therapy Shows Promise in Heart Patients," a heart warming story about the 3 Stemmers- three former Theravitae patients together, bonded by a unique, life changing experience- Vescell Adult Stem Cell Treatment for Heart Disease.
Many of you may stumble upon Stem Cell Guy's humble blog here by accident, perhaps suffering from a condition other than our specialty - heart disease. We offer stem cell treatment for coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, cardiomyopathy, and angina.
But we are not the only stem cell treatment around. In fact, around the world, there are various trials going on using stem cells, focusing on other conditions- Multiple Sclerosis, ALS, Parkinson's--- you name it, they probably have a trial for it.
Most trials can be found at www.clinicaltrials.gov This wonderful website offers thousands of trials going on and may just be what you are looking for. Stem Cell Guy suggests you go to the home page and use the search engine to find what you are looking for.
In fact, just the other day, Stem Cell Guy was playing around on the internet and found a trial for my own company. Stem Cell Guy must have missed the memo because I didn't know about it. It seems Theravitae is conducting a trial using our wonderful Vescell for Heart Disease in Israel. Hereis the link . Please keep in mind that you must live in Israel for this trial. However, if you don't reside in Israel, don't fret, check out the the www.clinicaltrials.gov web site, they have trials in the United States, Europe, Australia....all over the world, check it out!
PS- Although Stem Cell Guy is hyping the www.clinicaltrials.gov website (3 times in this little post), Stem Cell Guy receives no commission and the cost is free....so no reason not to give it a look. Go ahead, you may be glad you did.
Stem Cell Guy just returned from a relaxing weekend. One of Theravitae's finest got married yesterday at a beautiful venue- the world famous Oriental Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. Usually Stem Cell Guy doesn't like to dress up, but for this he had to make an exception. Even the usually reclusive Theravitae founder Don Margolis made an appearance at this soiree. Congratulations Ecki on your marriage. Best of luck to you and your husband.
Back to reality- Stem Cell Guy just found this video and transcript of an ABC TV news report on three former Theravitae patients. Nicknamed "the 3 Stemmers" (no, not the 3 Stooges), these gentlemen sat down for a short interview on the news. After you click on the link -the transcript is on the left...but don't miss the video on the right side of the screen.
COLLIER COUNTY: Three Naples men went to the extreme for a second chance at life. But is what they call medicine's next new miracle too risky to be true? Sixty one year old David Fogue had 30 days to live. "Pick out a casket, get it ready," said Fogue. Mel Forbis, 72, was given 7 months to live. Two years ago, doctors told 49 year old Neim Malo by 55 he would be gone. "Getting my will, setting up trusts," said Malo. All three Naples men suffered from different, severe heart conditions, but all had the same prognosis. Then one trip changed everything. "I'm feeling better, I feel more energy," said Malo. They'll tell you they haven't only found the fountain of youth, they drank the water and would do it again. "I know I have something to look forward to now," said Malo. Desperate for a cure and with little left to lose, they each traveled nearly 10,000 miles to Bangkok, Thailand. There they had a procedure where millions of stem cells, from their own bodies, were re-harvested and injected into their hearts.
Stem Cell Guy's boss - Don Margolis, has been to known to rant in the office about the embryonic stem cell lobby. To put it mildly, he is not a big fan, but he has always been able to hold it back so the public couldn't see.
I guess he couldn't keep it bottled up anymore because the founder of Theravitae, which is responsible for Vescell- adult stem cell therapy for heart disease - the one man responsible for helping over 100 patients suffering from coronary artery disesase (ischemic heart disease), cardiomyopathy, and congestive heart failure- sounded off to themedia recently.
Here is the teaser--
SUMMARY: The public are being misled by propaganda emanating from vested interest groups determined to keep buried the fact that many patients with failing hearts can be helped by adult stem cells right now.
BANGKOK, Thailand, 11 January 2007 –The retired founder of international biotechnology company TheraVitae, Mr. Don Margolis, has attacked what he calls “media lies and distortions” about adult stem cells. “The American media has been fed multiple lies by embryonic fanatics at the highest levels of American medicine and even doctors are being misled.”
Although the Stem Cell Guy would NEVER EVER condone gambling, Stem Cell Guy would put his money on Mr. Conrad Bush. Mr. Conrad Bush came to Bangkok despite many naysayers who told him he was throwing away his hard earned money. It takes a special strength to make the journey here to Bangkok for our adult stem cell therapy to treat heart disease, and that is why SCG thinks Mr. Bush will become another success story for Theravitae. That same special strength that brought him here will also help heal him (along with a little help from his own stem cells).
Cheers to you Mr. Bush.
Here is a teaser--
"I had been following Don Ho's amazing recovery story and my boss heard about a seminar in Hawaii to be conducted by Dr. Kitipan Arom, an eminent heart specialist from Bangkok Heart Hospital who had treated Don. I talked with Don Ho and to friends and was also lucky enough to be able to speak with Dr. Arom about whether or not I could be a candidate for stem cell therapy. Dr. Arom even gave me his mobile number, so I was able to ask all of the many questions I had about treatment possibilities. I was ready to go and here I am," he said. Conrad enrolled with the leader in stem cell therapy, an international company, Theravitae, through its Bangkok offices. He has been cared for by them since his arrival and taken to all appointments as a part of his package. Theravitae's product, known as VesCell, is the therapy of choice for patients with serious and advanced heart problems.
